Board of Directors
President Angel Horvath currently works for RE/MAX LLC as a software support specialist. She describes herself as an Anthropologist by temperament and training (she received her Bachelors of Arts from Metro State University) and just a footnote, she graduated from Douglas County High school, a hometown girl. Angel likes sewing, singing and biking. She says that she is married to the best husband in the world, maybe that’s so; however we are excited about the professionalism and enthusiasm she will bring to the Historical Society.Marie Llanes is the Vice President of the CRHS Board. Marie is a graduate of The University of Arizona, was born and raised on the eastern plains of Colorado and has lived in Caste Rock for 25 years with her husband and two sons. She retired from a career at KRMA TV where she worked as a Corporate Development Representative. She is an avid horsewoman, quilter and loves history.
Fleta Nockels is the CRHS Board Secretary. Fleta is a founding Board member and has given the Society many years of service. She is a retired Social Studies teacher at Douglas County High School. Fleta asks probing questions and helps the Board see issues from all angles.
Our Treasurer is Dorothy Kelly. Dorothy is a Charter member of the Castle Rock Historical Society. She boasts of having a degree in life experience after a career in cosmetology (owning and operating two hair salons) and her work as a Real Estate Agent in Kansas. She has 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren!!! She loves antiques and promises that she will paint again someday. (Her work is quite beautiful, and we want her to begin painting very soon)
Guy Mordeaux is the Board's Education specialist. He is perfectly suited for the job holding advanced degrees from Northern Colorado University and the University of Pueblo. He “retired in to the Castle Rock Historical Society” after a career as a Science Teacher, he loves to work with kids and teachers. Guy currently teaches GED classes at the library, and spends what time he has left in the day reading and studying. Guy lives in the historic “Ball House” in Castle Rock.
Carol Givan, Member At Large Carol is the Events Committee Chair. She is a partnership owner of Theater of Dreams in Castle Rock. Carol brings new ideas and enthusiasm for entertaining to the Society. With Carol's help the Society produces fun events that also educate about the history of Castle Rock.
Angie DeLeo wears two hats on the Castle Rock Historical Board; she is a member at large for the board and is the Executive Director of the Castle Rock Museum. Angie holds a degree in History from Marquette University. She worked in the Department of Defense for more than 30 years! She has been a member of the CRHS since 1999. Angie loves history and the outdoors in fact she has climbed 7 of Colorado’s 14ers.
